Men's Trends - Winterised Products

The trend for durable footwear with outdoor detailing is huge this season: leather trainers and boots with hiking style details will keep you looking cool in the cold.

This modern hiker from Merrell takes the classic hiking style and updates it for the season with a light Vibram sole and coloured laces.

Also from Merrell is this hiking boot inspired trainer with lightweight, recycled mesh upper and eco-friendly EVA cushioning. We love the D-Ring eyelets and contrasting bright orange laces.

Shearling lining is a great update for winter. We love this cosy skate shoe from Osiris with its red fluffy lining and grey leather upper.

Boxfresh are known for their cool and contemporary styles and this leather hi top is no exception. We think this is a great everyday shoe for those of you who don’t want to give up your trainers over the colder months.

A twist on the typical Converse, this style has been updated with outdoor details including D-Ring eyelets, coloured laces and a heavy canvas upper. A must have for any Converse fan this winter.

Another style from Converse, this boot style has classic hiking laces and a brown leather upper. Perfect teamed with jeans as an alternative to the traditional winter boot.

 

TREND - Wedges

We love wedges: the slightly more practical, sturdy alternative to the standard high heel. Not only are wedges super leg lengthening, they also make it easier for us to dance ALL NIGHT LONG. (Apologies if you’ve now got Lionel Richie in your head, although it’s a massive tune so we’re actually not sorry at all.)

This beautiful wedge hit stores last week: we love the platform wedge style and the subtle black glitter heel. We’re predicting this shoe will be gracing Christmas parties nationwide, including ours!

These gorgeous gold wedges have an awesome vintage vibe: we love the ankle strap and the bright metallic peep toe detail. We think these would look ace with coloured tights and cute tea dresses.

Pink and leopard print is so wrong that it’s right. This wedge is a Bet Lynch/Barbie hybrid, sounds like a winning combination to us.

Combining two major trends in one, this dazzling wedge truly has the X-Factor. Multicoloured glitter and a towering platform make it the perfect party shoe. A definite contender for Christmas No.1!

 

 

Men's Trends - Brogues

Brogues are always in vogue and in recent years this old favourite has seen a surge in popularity. The contemporary brogue retains the classic elegance and detailing of its namesake but with a modern twist.

We love this offering from Purified by Hudson with contrasting Vibram sole. Utterly cool and understated, the premium leather upper and lightweight sole combine two major trends. Also available in brown this shoe is only available in limited quantities, definitely a collector's item.

Another modern brogue, the terracotta sole on this Red or Dead shoe compliments the grey suede upper perfectly. Coloured soles inject a bit of fun into the classic brogue without compromising the elegant feel of the style.

 

Loake Shoemakers are purveyors of handcrafted, classic footwear. Their Goodyear Welted shoes are made of the highest quality materials and this gorgeous brogue is no exception. A true investment, this is a timeless piece of shoe history.

The brogue boot is a great way to carry the brogue trend through the winter months: we love this style from Schuh with its rich brown leather upper and classic detailing.

30th Birthday Live Art

So we may have mentioned our 30th birthday celebrations once or twice (okay maybe more like 100 times) but its official, the partying is over. Just as well it's Christmas soon otherwise what would we have left to live for? As part of the festivities we commissioned celebrated local artists to take part in live art displays across some of our stores. The artists were given the shop window as their canvas and were asked to use our birthday tagline ’30 years of self-expression’ as a starting point. Here’s a look at the amazing finished results…

First up was Sauchiehall Street where artist Billie Jean created this masterpiece for us!

Ben Newman was our Bristol artist and this is his incredible finished window. 

Newman floundered around in the dross pits of earth for several millennia before finally gluing his brain blocks together, then gettin' up and goin' home. Since then he's been honing his haughty enigma status in schools and small taverns across the countryside, and fitting himself into awkward spaces. His favourite food is pi.

Artist Jess Wilson created our live art in Brighton, doesn't it look great?

Jess Wilson graduated in 2006 and has been living and working in London ever since.  Using crayons, paints, inks and paper to create her unique illustrations and typographic works, she draws inspiration from humourous occurrences which happen around her in real life and in the media. Her likes are X Factor, people watching in Wetherspoons, Techno in the morning and You Tube.  Her dislikes are Norwich City Football Club, Bono and badly made gravy.  Recent clients include Quarto Books, Radley Yeldar and Made by Many

The Collections: The Lady Loves Vintage

Vintage inspired pieces are still making a huge impact in the fashion world and our final collection, The Lady Loves Vintage, sees classic styles given a modern twist. Think block heels, lace-up boots and snaffle detailing. Prim and proper with an up-to-date edge.
